Chinese restaurant Maiden Shanghai opens today (4 May) at Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai.
The restaurant is the first F&B venture from SKAI and is helmed by Chef Luo Bing, formerly head chef of Hutong in London.
Maiden Shanghai presents mixes traditional and creative with inspiration and flavours from four areas of Chinese cuisine – Cantonese, Sichuan, Shanghai and Beijing.
Menu highlights include Pickled Salmon, Bing’s Peking Duck, Kung Pao Lobster, Chilean Seabass and Boom Boom Chicken, and a selection of Dim Sum.
Aloki Batra, managing director, SKAI said: “We are excited to open Maiden Shanghai, bringing a homegrown Chinese concept to Dubai.
“With Chef Luo Bing at the helm, we look forward to ensuring it becomes a coveted culinary destination in the city and believe this flagship restaurant is a great start to our new F&B venture.”
Spread over three floors, the venue comprises a restaurant, three private dining rooms with terraces, a rooftop lounge and floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views.
Inspired by Chinese history throughout the ages, the décor blends the old with the new, with a colour palette of bronze, teal and white alongside a antique chandeliers, lanterns and other decorative features, all sourced from vintage stores across the world.
Artwork by Joe Joe Ngai showcases some of China’s iconic figures including Sun Yat-sen, the first president and the founding father of the Republic of China, and Anna May Wong, who is widely considered the first Chinese American movie star.
