Hotel News Middle East catches up with Foyer Decor general manager Tamara Mehyar…
What is your company promoting at The Hotel Show this year?
We decided to come to the Hotel Show to launch a line of space-saving furniture products. That’s because we see there are a lot of spaces that are becoming smaller and smaller – not just in Dubai but actually all over the world.
The concern about the spaces is becoming very clear, so in one unit you can have your beds, your cupboards and your display cabinets but that’s part of the overall Foyer Decor. We are involved in the fit-out of hotels and serviced apartments so now we have received a lot of people that are very interested actually because even in serviced apartments the spaces are becoming smaller. This gives you a lot of options for extra beds and things like that.
Can you tell us anything about new products you are launching onto the market?
One of the products that we have worked on is parquet flooring that has a level of cementitious material with a top layer of solid wood.
This is a product that is very useful in terms of humidity and expansion as this is a problem that has always faced parquet flooring – until now.
What is Foyer Decor’s plans for the region over the next 12-18 months?
We have recently been awarded two new hotels in Dubai so our vision is to continue in the fit-out business which continues to grow in Dubai. We see it is going to be successful in the coming years so we are thinking in that direction and expanding as we always want to be producing new products.
