The iconic Plaza Hotel in New York has been bought by a Dubai businessman in a deal worth $600 million.
Shahal Khan, founder of the Dubai-based family office White City Ventures, has purchased the property with Kamran Hakim of the Hakim Organization, a major New York City landlord, according to The New York Times. The deal is scheduled to close on June 25.
Sandeep Wadhwa, head of corporate finance at the Sahara Group, which owns a 70 percent stake in the hotel, and Sant Singh Chatwal, a hotelier who owns the other 5 percent being sold, confirmed the deal.
Previous owners of the property include Conrad Hilton and Donald Trump. The property famously appeared in movies like North by Northwest and Home Alone 2.
