How often do you find a concept that’s inspired by a passion for healthy, delicious food, and good for the mind, body, and soul? The Bowl One is the boldest new kid on the block, created to put the fun back into eating.
Located in brand new Index Tower Mall, the restaurant serves a mix of salads, smoothie bowls, and sandwiches, in addition to their famous protein soft-serve for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
With a mission to change what we think health means, The Bowl One was conceptualised by Sheri Mehryar and dreamt up from a lifetime of trying to get the right balance between restriction and freedom when it comes to food.
The Bowl One promises cuisine-less eats, with dishes that are healthy, nutritious and balanced – yet super delicious. We put this to the test by trying some of their most popular creations, and start off with the Bon Avoyage, sourdough toast with hearty sliced avocado topped off with a piperade drizzle. The beetroot and hummus spread makes for an earthy touch, and a side of fried goat cheese bon bons is the perfect complement to the dish.
Another dish we love is the Herbed Grilled Chicken Breast with roasted Portobello Mushroom, complemented with sesame-crusted avocado, pickled veggie slices, and kale and cauliflower ‘rice’ with house-preserved lemon (can be served with regular rice). How do they get the chicken so right, and so juicy? We don’t know.
As for our personal favourite, the shakshuka, it has a Sriracha macadamia tomato base, and consists of poached eggs, topped with crispy kale, and served with garlic-rubbed sourdough. Tangy, and perfect for brunch.
The restaurant’s biggest statement is the bar, where you can pick a base, either one of the signature smoothie bowls or the protein soft serve. From here, it’s time to top it with fruits, crunchy bites and finally drizzle with one of the homemade sauces.
Now we believe those who say that healthy food does’t have to be boring, The Bowl one is living proof that it can be colourful, tasty and just plain fun. No cheat days required…
