Residence Inn by Marriott has opened its 700th hotel worldwide. The Residence Inn Chicago Downtown/Loop is the largest hotel in the extended stay portfolio, a historic building located in the new distinctive hub in the center of Chi Town. The property, located at the intersection of LaSalle Street and Madison Avenue, will be Residence Inn by Marriott’s urban flagship with 380 rooms and 7500 square feet of meeting space.
The architecturally significant building is a Chicago Landmark, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. Owned by an affiliate of The Prime Group, Inc., the property was extensively renovated to restore the historic building to its original splendor. Developed by the McCormick family in 1915 and adorned with remarkable, Portuguese Gothic Terracotta, the historic Roanoke Building boasts tall arches and ornamental columns designed by the prolific 19th century Chicago architectural firm Holabird and Roche.
“Steeped in history, but redesigned and reimagined to excite today’s traveler, this new hotel is the epitome of what extended stay and Residence Inn has to offer,” said Diane Mayer, vice president and global brand manager, Residence Inn. “Guests are able to navigate through a unique architectural experience while still receiving all the services and amenities that they expect to help them maximize their stay and get the most out of their trip.”
Situated in the heart of Chicago’s central financial district the location provides easy access to Chicago’s public transportation system, the nearby theatre district, Millennium Park, State Street shopping, world-class dining, universities and museums.
The hotel encompasses a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites, many of which include original details and views of LaSalle Street. Naturally lit rooms average over 500 square feet and feature 10-foot ceilings, large windows and spa-inspired bathrooms with walk-in showers. The hotel will also offer a lobby bar and lounge, fitness centre, business centre, private meeting rooms and, like all Residence Inn hotels, free Wi-Fi, complimentary daily hot breakfast and a laundry facility for guests. A new restaurant is also slated to open in March 2016.
“Chicago is increasingly becoming a prime destination for both U.S. and international visitors, so we are extremely excited to be able to offer such an exceptional hotel that will make a lasting impression on them and keep them coming back,” said Michael W. Reschke, Chairman and CEO of The Prime Group, Inc.
