Japanese fusion culinary hub, Origami, has been a fixture in Dubai’s contemporary dining scene for over eight years while having successfully mastered the perfect blend of Japanese and local flavours. Their newest and third branch is set to open doors in Fashion Avenue at Dubai Mall on April 15th, with a complete makeover from interiors to menu.
Set forth to reinterpret Japanese eating in Dubai, Origami was launched in 2014 to make fresh, quality-grade sushi casually accessible, with their flagship store situated on the top floor of Al Souq Mall in Umm Suqeim 3. Eight years later, their values remain steadfast. The brand retains custom and ritual amid progression, offering a culinary experience housing respected craftsmanship in an immersive retrieval of Japan’s most revered underground sushi bars; unembellished, imperfect, and simplistic.
Origami’s newest branch will be in service starting mid-April, just in time to serve unparalleled Japanese dishes with an Arabesque twist for a satisfying iftar every evening during Ramadan. Staying true to the authentic and intimate Japanese and Arab dining experience, the venue will seat only 40 guests. While the menu will still be home to some of Origami’s best-selling dishes, it will feature a range of new and interesting fusion creations, offering something new in every section of the menu.
The longstanding establishment’s refreshed menu will feature new dishes such as chicken karaage (AED47), salmon in potato chips (AED29), beef katsu (AED59), cauliflower popcorn (AED35), salmon tataki (AED58), and unagi and foie gras (AED97) as part of the small dishes, sashimi, and uramaki sections. Dedicating an entire new section to grilled items, Origami is ready to serve indulgent new additions such as grilled chicken wings (AED48), grilled seabass with tomato salsa (AED99), and prawns tsukune (AED51).
Known not only for their distinct Japanese culinary creations, but also their unique interiors and seating design that is a take on time-honoured Japanese and Arab dining traditions where groups sit on a carpeted floor, Origami is truly a special venue that perfects the guest experience from start to finish while successfully highlighting their personality through the food, interiors, and service.
Atmosphere elicited through interiors is just as crucial to the dining experience as the food, and Origami’s new space was designed with purpose, featuring simple yet significant Japanese elements that are reminiscent of old underground Japanese sushi bars. Origami’s guests will feel as if they have been transported to the far East as they set sights on black, matted tiles and textured glass partitions while savouring their sumptuous, refined menu. The new dining experience is tucked away behind large volumes, fostering curiosity for what lies within.
Located at the heart of Fashion Avenue in Dubai Mall, Origami’s new location provides a relaxed yet social atmosphere where spent shoppers and families can fuel up with their vast selections of succulent sushi and other Japanese delicacies.
