Continuing initiatives for improved sustainability and the creation of additional luxury through renovations and resort refurbishment will be the significant talking point from Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) this May.
Continued commitment
Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort is proud of its great progress in sustainability and continues to innovate and improve in all areas of operations. Near future plans include the addition of mechanical digesters and compactors to turn all food waste into greywater for landscaping and fertilisers. Investigations are in progress to discover more opportunities for reducing paper use and wastage and to further reduce single-use plastics in partnership with bathroom amenity suppliers and the provision of reusable flasks across the resort.
Recycling and waste reduction
Demonstrating Anantara’s ongoing commitment to sustainable hospitality, Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort has partnered with sustainability consultant Radhika Arapally with a goal to positively impact waste management and energy efficiency by 20% in 2022. Initiatives to drive recycling have already led to a 102% increase in glass recycling across the resort.
Dedicated bins in all offices have increased paper recycling by 18% and overall recycling has nearly tripled from 4% in February to 11% in March. These improvements have allowed landfill waste to be reduced by 19% and overall waste by 14% in the same period.
The addition of a flavoured water dispenser has allowed 600 single-use plastic bottles to be removed from the resort fitness centre. Anantara has completed the move to a new coffee pod supplier with a commitment to ensure all pods are now recycled. Facilities have been added for recycling soap on-site and while guest robes are upcycled and slippers recycled through partner companies.
Additional luxury
Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort remains dedicated to staying at the forefront of luxury in Dubai with phase two of the resort’s renovation and refurbishment plan set to be completed in 2022, and phase three in 2023. This exciting project includes the addition of eight swimming pools to the resort’s popular Over Water Villas, bringing even more floating luxury to every guest.
All One Bedroom Beach Pool Villas, Premier Lagoon View, Premier Lagoon Access, and Family Lagoon Access rooms will be refurbished alongside a full rebrand and renovation of The Beach House shoreline restaurant.
