Next week (Tuesday 29th November) sees the opening of Bar Baar Freestyle Kitchen & Bar, a stylish restaurant and luxe lounge bar located in the Occidental Al Jaddaf. Guests can look forward to a casual fine dining experience and dishes which will take their taste buds on a voyage around the world.
The menu showcases a diverse collection of cuisines, featuring hand-picked delicacies from over three continents, highlighting produce, flavour combinations and global culinary traditions. Menu sections are compact yet thoughtfully packed with classics and refreshing signatures including Roasted beet & onion soup with brie fritters, Garlic & pepper lamb chops with potato wasabi cream, 18 hour slow cooked lamb shanks with blue cheese truffles, Sichuan soft shell crab burger, Pan seared scallop with cauliflower puree & lentil crumbs, Miso marinated black cod with parmesan risotto, and Lobster Indiana with Kashmiri chili & garlic. Desserts range from classic Tiramisu, indulgent French Toast with white chocolate, mango & fake scrambled egg, decadent Black Forest Gâteau or for a touch of nostalgia opt for an old-school Baked Alaska.
Alongside a vast selection of wine from old world classics such as Bordeaux and Burgundy to Prosecco and Champagne, the bar will stock premium top shelf bottles such as Clase Azul, Rémy Martin XO and Grey Goose at a competitive price point. There is an extensive and eclectic cocktail offering, with signature serves including Filbert’s Elegant (dark rum infused hazelnut, Campari, Frangelico), Mure La Sansho (Aperol infused blackberry, blackberry puree, orange juice, lemon juice, organic vegan foam) and Fizzy Menthe (gin infused mixed berries, mint syrup, lemon juice, sparkling Wine, organic vegan foam).
Despite the upscale produce and premium ingredients, Bar Baar Freestyle Kitchen & Bar remains modern and approachable – an elevated international menu served in a relaxed yet elegant setting. The sleek interior is replete with high ceilings which feature a stunning light installation, inspired by the hypnotic roots of the Kalpavriksha (a wish-fulfilling divine tree), red velvet curtains drape across the walls, exposed brick showcases graffiti street art, and dark wood and textured upholstery are punctuated with gold metallic accents. Curved leather banquettes in Buckeye Belle red are illuminated by elegant chandeliers, and plush velvet chairs are paired with marble top tables – adding a sense of elevated comfort.
The 170-seat venue showcases a dedicated Shisha bar serving inventive Shisha Art, an elevated stage is home to live bands, dancers and DJs which will perform on a weekly entertainment schedule. The large indoor terrace features lush green foliage, and walls adorned with quirky pieces of art.
The new venture is helmed by PRG Global Restaurants, a husband and wife duo who own and run four successful hospitality concepts in India. The original Bar Baar was an Indian gastropub in Bur Dubai, which was forced to close its doors during the pandemic. Bar Baar Freestyle Kitchen & Bar represents the second chapter, with the team launching an exciting new concept in a brand new location.
