Lewis Hamilton ended a three-year drought on Sunday by holding off Max Verstappen to clinch a record-breaking ninth career victory at Silverstone in the British Grand Prix – his first triumph since Saudi Arabia in 2021 – as tickets for the seven-time world champion’s final race with Mercedes AMG Petronas continue to sell quickly ahead of the FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX 2024 in December.
The 16th edition of the Formula 1 Etihad Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will see Hamilton cap his 11th and final year with the championship-winning team Mercedes before he switches to Ferrari for 2025. The #AbuDhabiGP will also mark Spanish driver Carlos Sainz’s final race with Italian powerhouse, Scuderia Ferrari.
With 65% of the 170,000 fans that attended the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix coming from overseas, event organisers are once more expecting an influx of international fans at Yas Marina Circuit following a 40 per cent surge in travellers to the UAE capital last year. Attendees now can maximise their experience at Yas Island with exclusive access to the Yasalam After-Race Concerts with two headline acts already confirmed to perform at Etihad Park as US pop rock band Maroon 5 and British rock group Muse get set to entertain Formula 1’s ever-evolving, diverse fanbase.
In addition, complimentary access will be granted to one of Yas Island’s thrilling adventure parks or cultural sites; including Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros, World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld or Seaworld Abu Dhabi, as well as the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Watan and more.
Wrapping up the longest season in F1 history, the 24-race calendar has already surprised fans with Ferrari securing their first 1-2 early this season in Australia. The race saw Sainz add to his win record, following news of his replacement earlier this year. The announcement of Hamilton’s departure from the team with which he secured six Drivers’ Championships stunned fans globally, while the Tifosi are eagerly preparing to welcome the British driver following the Abu Dhabi GP.
For the first time since 2021, there have been four teams – Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes – who have won a race this season, underlining the sheer competitive nature of the overall competition. Meanwhile, Ferrari and Mercedes are the only two teams to have had both drivers win a Grand Prix.
Organisers are advising fans to book their tickets for the season finale quickly as many categories are selling fast with the three-day passes for the Main, West, and North Grandstands already fully booked. Fans can still choose from a wide array of ticket categories throughout the circuit, including fan-favourite locations, Abu Dhabi Hill, Horizon 360, as well as North Straight Grandstand and West Straight Grandstand, both offering great views of the fastest straight on the track.
A wide range of coveted hospitality experience options return by popular demand, including Luna Lounge, Deck at Nine, and Suite at One, offering an unparalleled race weekend at the iconic circuit.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will also host the season finale for the F1 Academy, with Emirati sisters Hamda and Amna Al Qubaisi concluding their first season with Red Bull Racing and Visa Cash App RB at home. Formula 2 and Formula 4 will also feature support races during the F1 weekend, promising racing fans a weekend of motorsports.
