Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach in Dubai has appointed Rajiv Ranjan as its new executive chef.
Chef Ranjan first joined Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in 2010 when he was appointed as executive sous-chef at Mövenpick Hotel & Apartments, Bur Dubai.
He worked his way up to executive chef and was recognised within the company as the most creative chef of 2015, and for the most creative food and beverage concepts in 2014.
Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach general manager, Philip Jones commented: “Rajiv’s passion and commitment towards continuously learning through his travels around the world has tremendously contributed to his unique culinary style, business acumen and administration knowledge.
“We are delighted to welcome Rajiv to our leadership team and confident that he will be a great asset to the hotel and its award-winning cuisine.”
The Indian chef started his career with Oberoi Hotels & Resorts in India in 2001 after graduating from the IHM PUSA hotel school in New Delhi.
Three years later, Ranjan travelled to the United Kingdom, Australia and South-East Asia to gain experience, and has worked with international hotel operators such as Hilton Worldwide, Jumeirah Group and Taj Hotels & Resorts.
In his new role, Ranjan will be responsible for overseeing and leading the continued development of Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach’s restaurants and bars.
Commenting on his appointment, Ranjan said: “The main focus in my kitchen and for my team is consistency, wholesome high-quality food, a modern approach and fresh ingredients.
“I have been fortunate to work with some of the renowned chefs around the world, which has enhanced my culinary expertise and interactive cooking skills.”
