The Cycle Bistro, Dubai is hosting series of Paleo cooking demonstrations, with one taking place on Tuesday 26 April from 7 – 9pm, and several more in May.
Patrick Ikinofo, executive chef at The Cycle Hub will demonstrate how to prepare pan fried organic salmon fillet with kale chips, beetroot and cauliflower risotto, orange and salmon roe at the demonstration on 26 April.
Chef Ikinofo will use natural, alternative ingredients to create the dish, which has been endorsed by nutritionists and fitness experts.
For dessert, chef Elaine Young Hall from DinnerTime, will show guests how to prepare a Paleo, vegan chocolate hazelnut mousse cake.
Commenting on why Paleo is on the increase in the UAE, chef Ikinofo said: “With the rise in diabetes, heart disorder and obesity amongst Middle Eastern people I believe that the Paleo lifestyle can only be on the rise in the region.
“In only one year I have seen a lot more local followers of this diet and I believe that through educating our young people we can avoid diseases and health issues. With the Paleo lifestyle being one of the leading diets to break free of [unhealthy lifestyles] we here in the Middle East have a lot to learn and achieve.
Anette Lind, general manager of DinnerTime commented: “Paleo is just real food without any E numbers! It’s about eating clean and cooking from scratch. I would say that you perform better, feel lighter and fresher.
“Right now the Paleo diet seems really popular, especially for people who are training. Personally I feel so much lighter eating Paleo. I think the Paleo lifestyle is here to stay and will grow even bigger in the future, and it is a healthier way of living here in GCC considering the obesity and diabetes problems.”
The Paleo diet is based on the types of foods presumed to have been eaten by early humans, and consists of fish, natural, grass-fed meat, free-range poultry, eggs, natural fats, vegetables, berries and nuts.
Items such as wheat, legumes, pulses, dairy products, soy, grains and refined sugars are excluded from the diet.
The Cycle Hub in Motor City provides a range of bicycle equipment and services for cyclists, along with a restaurant offering nutritional food and beverage, with 95% of the menu Paleo.
DinnerTime provides grocery boxes with the ingredients and recipes for a week of home-cooked healthy dinners. Customers can choose between the standard, gluten-free, Paleo, or vegetarian boxes.
Every Sunday, customers receive a grocery box with the ingredients, menu and recipes for dinner from Sunday – Thursday.
The Paleo cooking demonstrations at The Cycle Bistro cost AED 75 including refreshments, dinner, dessert and an inspirational speech.
The demonstration on 26 April is fully booked, however there are further demonstrations on 7 May, 10 May and 24 May. Contact info@thecyclebistro.com for bookings.
