Jessica Donario, sales export manager, Parmentine, explains why the French potato brand took a stand for the first time at International Perishables Expo Middle East (WOP DUBAI) in November 2016.
Why did you attend WOP Dubai?
This year marks the second time we have attended WOP Dubai, and our goal was to find new customers because we’re new on this market and in the Middle East in general. We wanted to understand the requirements for fresh potatoes, find new customers, and establish long-term business with importers in this market.
What is unique about Parmentine potatoes?
Parmentine is both a grower and packer of potatoes. We do a wide range from the small 500g microwaveable pack to the 2.5kg pack of loose potatoes. We have launched innovative, convenience potato products to make customers’ lives easier. We have products with multi-culinary uses, so bags for baking, salads and also microwaveable bags.
How successful was WOP Dubai for Parmentine?
It’s a good initiative and it’s the second year at the show, but this year we decided to have our own stand to offer more communication about our brand and showcase our products to give customers a clearer idea of what our full range comprises.
What are your expansion plans for the Middle East?
We’d like to open in more countries. We’re selling to Dubai and Doha, and I’d like to increase our reach in Saudi Arabia, which has huge potential, and in Kuwait and Oman. This is our next objective for 2017. We’ll definitely be back at WOP Dubai next year.
