Restaurateurs Nick Alvis, Scott Price and Viktorija Paplauskiene are preparing to open Folly by Nick & Scott at Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah this February, in partnership with Gates Hospitality.
Located in the space previously occupied by Rivington Grill, the restaurant has views over Madinat Jumeirah’s waterways, Burj Al Arab and the Arabian Gulf.
Naim Maadad, CEO, Gates Hospitality, said: “We feel that as a homegrown concept, folly by Nick & Scott will act as something of a pioneer in the region and will fill a niche in the fast-growing hospitality market. We couldn’t be more excited to launch in February.”
Comprised of an indoor dining area and open, interactive kitchen, outdoor bars and terraces, Folly promises to offer “an informal take on modern fine dining in a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere”, according to a press statement.
The menu, driven by quality produce at a range of price points, includes dishes such as smoked paprika monkfish cheeks and Omani shrimp; and marjoram and lime gremolata alongside Lamb saddle, whipped pine nuts and salsa.
The beverage list, curated by Paplauskiene, includes biodynamic grape alongside classic choices, with the option to match drinks to individual dishes.
The cocktail menu is inspired by natural ingredients such as agave, juniper, grain and malt. Beverages are served up in retro-style punch bowls and sharing barrels.
An eight-seat Kitchen Bar, which doubles as the kitchen pass, offers an insight into what goes on behind the scenes.
The Outdoor Terrace & Lounge has its own bar and a level above is the Folly Rooftop and there are two outdoor private dining areas available.
Set on its own terrace, The Communal Table seats 12 and offers sharing boards and surprises. The Windtower is a two-seat table with views and a bespoke menu tailored to guest wishes.
Two- and three-course lunch menus are available on weekdays from 12pm – 2.30pm, while on Fridays and Saturdays, ‘Weekend lunch on the terrace’ offers a laid-back alternative to a traditional brunch.
