Dolcerie Veneziane, a producer of Viennese biscuits and gourmet chocolates, is considering opening a store in Dubai to cater for the Middle East market.
Speaking at Gulfood Manufacturing, in the Dubai World Trade Centre last week, Nicola Bullegato said that the company was exhibiting for the first time primarily to find distribution partners across the region.
“We are an artisan producer of premium products, and we are the only producer of the complete range of Viennese biscuits. All of our products are made to traditional recipes, with natural ingredients.
“We currently export to Italy, Rumania, Spain, Sweden, France, the Ukraine and Russia, but we felt now was the right time to show our products in the Middle East.”
Bullegato said the company was interested in both retail and HORECA trade, and that its first outlets were anticipated to be specialist gourmet stores across the region. “Our first step is to find the right partner, someone that recognises quality and is not driven by cost.”
Bullegato explained how its traditional recipes would have to be adapted for this region, adding: “The Middle East has very sweet tastes so we will make adjustments to our recipes, in line with an experienced local partner.”
