To celebrate Italy’s rich epicurean history and global influence, restaurants across the world, including Dubai will take part in International Day of Italian Cuisines (IDIC), on 17 January.
An international affair, now in its ninth year, the IDIC was created to celebrate and protect the authenticity of produce and cooking techniques used in Italian cuisine. Equally, IDIC helps to ensure Italian eateries throughout the world prepare classically Italian dishes in the traditional manner.
Restaurants across the globe participate by cooking a set dish, which is declared the official dish of the event. This year, the Costoletta alla Milanese, a breaded milk-fed veal rib, fried in clarified butter, will be the star of the event.
The dish will be prepared at thousands of restaurants across 75 countries and, according to the original recipe. Chosen for its deep origins in Italian history, IDIC celebrates a dish that has long held a place in the heart of Italian food enthusiasts.
Dubai’s diners will have the chance to enjoy this famous dish at three of the city’s best-loved Italian eateries: Alta Badia in Jumeirah Emirates Towers; Segreto and Trattoria Toscana both located in the Souq Madinat, Madinat Jumeirah.
“We’re very excited to take part in IDIC and I’m certain this will be a popular event with diners who appreciate the cultural legacy of Italian cuisine,” said Chris Lester, group executive chef, JRG Dubai. “While our head chefs at each restaurant will be preparing Costoletta alla Milanese made the traditional way, each will add their own signature touch based upon the individual style of their particular restaurant,” Lester added.
The Costoletta alla Milanese will be available for lunch or dinner at all three restaurants from 16 – 23 January.
