In a ground-breaking blend of flavours and cultures, GIMI has emerged as the latest culinary sensation in the heart of Jumeirah. Nestled within the vibrant Al Wasl Vita Mall, GIMI offers a unique dining experience that pays homage to the hawker culture while also embracing the appeal of K-pop. As its name suggests, “Gimi,” translating to “Spice” in Korean, promises an unforgettable journey through different tastes and sensations. Its cuisine is a delectable fusion of Korean culinary traditions and the vibrant street food culture of Southeast Asia. To add an evocative touch, GIMI infuses atmosphere by mixing an old-fashioned tune with modern K-pop beats.
The brainchild of the visionary minds behind Atelier House Hospitality and Around the Block, GIMI represents an innovative shift in Dubai’s culinary landscape. “We wanted to create a menu that authentically reflects the essence of both Korean and Southeast Asian cuisines, with a particular focus on street food offerings. We carefully handpicked dishes that capture the heart and soul of these regions’ gastronomic cultures, from the iconic sizzle of Korean classics to the mouth-watering allure of Southeast Asian street bites, each dish was chosen to resonate with guests, evoking a sense of nostalgia and adventure,” said Panchali Mahendra, President of Atelier House Hospitality.
“We are excited to work with Atelier House Hospitality for Gimi and are looking forward to bringing this unique and innovative dining concept to the Dubai gastronomic scene,” said Ismail Al Sheriff, partner at Around The Block Investments who is looking forward to introducing this dining concept to patrons. “Korean cuisine and culture have captured the city’s imagination, yet we recognized the absence of a dynamic, upscale dining concept. GIMI bridges that gap, offering a blend of nostalgia and novelty, inviting guests to enjoy an unparalleled experience.”
Among the array of tempting options on the menu, a few truly stand out. The spectacular Bibimbap with Korean rice and a vibrant mix of vegetables. The Tteobokki is a special dish with a delectable Tteobokki sauce, rice cake, fish cake, spring onions, kimari and sweet potato. The Pancakes are truly outstanding with homemade kimchi, bacon and fresh mozzarella. Equally enticing is the belove Korean Fried Chicken which will be a crowd pleaser with its exotic and unbeatable flavours. Another delight is the Randang. With origins in Indonesia, this remarkable dish is bursting with spicy flavours owing to the Thai chilli, kefir, and galangal. Last but not the least is the Cham Namul, inspired by Korean and Chinese influences, this unique spin on a classic dish offers a delectable mix of flavours with crispy rice, grilled chicken, fresh ginger, curry leaves, crispy onion and avocado.
“We prioritize the use of locally sourced, high-quality ingredients to ensure a memorable dining experience that speaks from the heart of both cultures. By bridging tradition and creativity, my approach aims to transport diners on a culinary journey that captivates their senses and leaves a lasting impression of GIMI’s unique identity,” adds Chef Paul Felicisimo, the creative force behind GIMI’s menu.
GIMI also offers a delightful selection of creative non-alcoholic cocktails that promise to tantalize taste
buds. “KIMARY” concoction features GIMI’s signature kimchi spice mix infused with tangy tomato juice, complemented by hints of celery and a touch of black pepper. This twist on a classic favourite captures the essence of Korean cuisine in a single sip. For those seeking a more tropical experience, the “K-POP” delivers a burst of fruity goodness. Crafted with soju, passion fruit, vanilla, and pineapple, this creation comes alive with a splash of prosecco, transporting guests to the heart of Southeast Asia. These unique non-alcoholic options are just a glimpse of what awaits at GIMI, promising a truly unforgettable dining experience.
GIMI is more than just a restaurant; it’s an immersive blend of two distinct cultures, that guests will remember for a long time. GIMI showcases the captivating fusion of innovation and tradition, where the beat of K-pop seamlessly intertwines with the allure of Southeast Asian street food.
