As the sun sets over the bustling cityscape of Bangkok, an artistic journey awaits at the renowned Waldorf Astoria Bangkok. Building upon its reputation as a top culinary and hospitality destination, the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok proudly introduces the second edition of the #ArtistsatTheLoft cocktail menu, a testament to the intersection of mixology and fine arts.
Named in the top 100 of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2023, and situated on the 56th floor, offering breath-taking city views, The Loft at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok is a destination worthy of a visit alone. They have curated an exquisite collection of 13 new cocktails that embody the spirit of artistry and innovation. Each libation is a masterpiece, inspired by artistic techniques and philosophies, ensuring that every sip is a voyage of flavour and creativity.
A favourite travel destination for GCC travellers who are looking for another city to explore, Bangkok presents an alluring getaway, just a direct six-hour flight away with multiple daily flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports. With a vibrant bar and culinary scene, the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok offers a luxurious haven for those in pursuit of unique and delectable experiences.
At the heart of The Loft’s philosophy is the belief that crafting cocktails is an art form, where mixologists are celebrated as true artists. In pursuit of this belief, the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok has collaborated with a group of professor artists, and students, from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University to create drinks that are artworks and explore the intricate interplay between artistic techniques and the art of crafting cocktails.
Highlights of the second edition include:
- The Magnolias, a rum-based cocktail with homemade goji berry-infused pisco, yuvi, guava, lime and walnut & sesame syrup, showcasing the technique of acrylic art. The artwork itself beautifully captures the ambience and setting of The Loft perched atop Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard, the esteemed location of Waldorf Astoria Bangkok.
- Cha Thai, a rum-based cocktail that celebrates the essence of Thailand. This drink, inspired by Thailand’s famous iced tea with milk, blends domestic rum with Thai tea-infused vermouth, kaffir lime and tamarind syrup, lime juice, and a jasmine rice foam. The associated artwork draws inspiration from the mixologist’s craft of cocktail making and uses a spray art technique, adding an artistic dimension to the drinking experience.
- Just Drop It, a whisky-based cocktail crafted with saffron-infused Lillet Blanc, aloe vera juice, citrus, lotus & tamarind syrup, and Perrier. The mixologist and artist unite their talents using the captivating oil-dropping art technique, bringing this exceptional concoction to life and inviting cocktail lovers to discover their creative spirit with every sip.
- Level 56, a gin-based cocktail created in homage to The Loft’s talented mixologists, the true artists. This drink is perfectly crafted with coconut milk punch, lychee & rose syrup, and blood orange & elderflower tonic. Our mixologists reveal their drawing technique on the glass, adding an extra layer of creativity to the enjoyment of the cocktail.
- Midnight Mosaic, a spirits-based cocktail in old-fashioned style crafted from bourbon, coffee, orange liqueur, vermouth, roasted barley syrup, and Perrier. It is a mosaic of flavors and tastes seamlessly blended together with the uplifting aroma of orange, creating a smooth drink that draws artistic inspiration from the collage art technique.
“In the world of mixology, cocktails are our canvas, and we are the artists. At The Loft, we believe that every drink is a masterpiece waiting to be created. Crafting our second series of art-inspired cocktails was a journey that began with complexity but ended with creativity. Gratitude fills our hearts as we acknowledge those art professors and students for sharing their exquisite art concepts and techniques with us. We have eagerly transformed these intricate ideas into reality and cannot wait to share these exciting creations with our guests,” says Michele Montauti, beverage manager of Waldorf Astoria Bangkok.
