A Hatta Fort Hotel is to host the Hatta Hills Running Festival taking place on the 11 March, 2016.
The run will begin on the lawns of JA Hatta Fort Hotel, and the longer distance runners will make their way out of the main entrance, up the palm tree lined avenue toward the Hatta Municipal Park where they will be treated to a 1km tarlton running surface. Runners will then face a 24% steep gradient incline as they ascend to the top of the dam and reservoir walls respectively to view the majestic Hajar Mountain Range.
The course then descends onto the off road part of the course where runners will navigate their way through the mountain range and wadi’s on a compact off road surface. The turn-around for Half Marathoners is literally a dead-end in the road in front of a sheer rock face before making their way back to the Hotel.
For the more sociable 5 and 3km fun runners, a X-Country course has been prepared within the beautiful and hilly grounds of the Hotel, which will finish in the same place as all other runners on the morning.
Commenting on the fun run, Warren van der Merwe, race director from Super Sports Events said: “The Running Festival concept is to ensure we can offer the entire family an opportunity to participate on the day. The 21.1km and 10km races will be for the seasoned campaigners and for the juniors and beginner runners, there will be a 3km and 5km x-country run within the JA Hatta Fort Hotel grounds. The Hotel and Hatta Municipality have offered us all the support we need to make this a memorable race for all so we are looking forward to seeing many families coming down to enjoy the day or weekend in Hatta and help us make this an annual race on the Dubai Calendar.”
