JW Marriott Marquis Dubai has appointed Valerie Barrie as the new director of sales and marketing. Barrie, a Scottish national, joins the team from Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Wild Wadi Waterpark where she served for three years as the director of sales and marketing across the 618 room property and waterpark.
In her new position, Barrie will work closely with the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai senior management team to further strengthen the hotel’s strategy across key market segments, and the achievement of sales targets. Under the JW Marriott luxury tier group, Barrie will lead strategic campaigns across the property’s 1,608 rooms, 14 acclaimed restaurants and lounges, Saray Spa and the Meetings, Incentive Conference and Event facilities.
Aligned with the Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) focus for Dubai to be the preferred choice for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions internationally ahead of Expo 2020, Barrie will lead the JW Marriott Marquis sales and marketing team in attracting convention and group business to the hotel and continue to establish it as a first choice for international business meetings.
Barrie brings a wealth of hospitality management experience across the UAE, Australia and the United Kingdom, where she has been responsible for leading the sales and marketing functions across a luxury property portfolio that includes JW Marriott Dubai, Hyatt Regency Coolum (Australia), Novotel Twin Waters Resort (Australia) and Aberdeen Marriott Hotel.
