Biennial international hospitality exhibition, Host Milan, will once again award an innovative product for the industry with its Smart Label at the next edition of the show.
Awarded in collaboration with POLI.design, Consorzio del Politecnico di Milano, this year’s Smart Label award is focused on products that successfully implement the internet of things into their design by connecting digitally to improve user interaction.
The prize aims to promote the most advanced solutions from companies exhibiting at the 40th Fair, set to take place at Fiera Milano from 20 – 24 October 2017, with two distinct categories of award.
The Smart Label award is for products with innovative content in terms of functionality, technology, environmental sustainability and ethical and social implications.
The Innovation Smart Label awards is for products with highly innovative content that seeks to disrupt established industry trends.
Previous Smart Label awards garnered 318 nominations, with participation by companies from a wide range sectors including furniture, professional catering, tea and coffee, bars, coffee machines and tableware.
In total, 98 Smart Labels and 13 Innovation Smart Labels have been awarded for the most ground-breaking products.
The competition is open to companies registered for Host 2017 until 14 April 14, 2017.
Existing products or products under development can be put forward using the application process detailed on www.host.fieramilano.it and www.polidesign.net.
Entries will only be accepted if they are put forward using the templates on the websites, and only one nomination per company can be put forward.
The judges comprise professors from the Politecnico di Milano along with selected international experts.
The winners will be selected based on three criteria: functional efficiency; effectiveness of product performance or usability of service; and innovation of mode of use and technology.
The winning entries will be awarded a plaque – the “Label” – and will have the opportunity to be involved in future Host promotional activities.
The award winner will also be entered into the index of “Smart Products” at Host 2017, where an exhibition and itinerary will raise awareness of Smart developments.
Host Smart Label is part of a series initiatives aimed at discovering innovation in design and technology.
Already 800 companies have confirmed their participation for Host 2017, with 1,500 buyers being targeted from every continent.
