Meliá Doha has appointed Sherief Abouelmagd, an American Egyptian with over 28 years of hospitality experience as the new General Manager of the property. 
After graduating in December 1988 with a Masters degree from Florida International University, in Hotel Management and Food Service, Abouelmagd begun his career with Marriott Hotels International in America.
Abouelmagd continued his career path with Marriott Hotels International in the Middle East from 1999 till 2004 managing the Cairo Marriott Hotel, after which he ventured on to other international chains including Movenpick, where he held other several GM positions.
In 2009 Abouelmagd joined Meliá Hotels International, as the Area Director of Operations for Egypt and Tunisia and recently joined Meliá Doha as the General Manager.
Commenting on his new appointment, Abouelmagd said: “I’ve thrived and worked my way up in the hospitality sector for over 28 years now, and I am honored to be a part of a brand like Meliá Hotels International that has operated successfully for 60 years,” he stated. “I am thrilled to be working with the team at this incredible hotel in Doha and to witness the continued achievements of Meliá Hotels International’s very first Qatari property.”
