A Sri Lankan native, Irfan has served in multiple roles at the resort from Food & Beverage to Front Office, learning the ins and outs of the resort fully. In his new role, Irfan will be overseeing and managing all aspects of the resort’s operations, including personnel, processes, technology, and customer service. With close to two decades of experience at the resort, Irfan is well equipped with the necessary credentials to honour the responsibilities.
His hospitality career began as a steward in 2002 with The Oberoi Group in his home town. He joined Al Maha Desert Resort in 2004 as a busboy and was soon promoted to a waiter in 2005. He then moved to Front Office as a receptionist and due to his work ethics and dedication, was promoted to Guest Coordinator and then Guest Relation Officer (equivalent to Assistant Front Office Manager) in years to follow. In 2018, he was appointed as Front Office Manager.
On this occasion, Arne Silvis, the General Manager of the resort said “Irfan’s loyalty towards the resort and the brand is absolutely admirable and so is his understanding of the logistics. Located on the outskirts of the city has its challenges and Irfan not only understands them but aims to initiate systems that will promote the resort’s growth and success by developing innovative strategies to improve operational performance”. An avid cat lover and a cricket fan, Irfan is thrilled to take on his new role and is excited for this opportunity.
