Fonterra general manager, Alastair Bruce, spoke with Catering News about the relaunch of the Anchor Food Professionals brand and the products the company was showcasing at Gulfood 2017.
What products are you showcasing at Gulfood?
This is the first time we have come to Gulfood and this year both Anchor Food Professionals and our sister company are showcasing here. For Anchor Food Professionals, firstly we are talking about the brand. We just relaunched the brand, we have been here in the Middle East as Anchor and had a specific focus on food service. This is an opportunity for us to talk about what we really stand for. In terms of the products, we focus on western bakery, Italian kitchen and we also focus on CSR . We have a working cream that gives the bakery extra youth, a mozzarella that gives the caterer operator more stretch and youth and a cooking cream for the Italian kitchen that also gives more youth.
Why is the middle East an important market for you?
We first arrived in the Middle East in the early 80s but Gulfood has been around for 22 years and each year it is getting bigger and bigger and that is a statement of growth in the food service channel so we see that the channels that we focus on are growing, and we’ve got room to grow ourselves.
The 22nd edition of Gulfood opened its doors at Dubai World Trade Centre on March 26, 2017. Over the course of 5 days, 90,000 food professionals from 150 countries participated in the exhibition.
