Two big names in travel catering, the International Flight Services Association (IFSA) and The Mercurys, have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to recognise excellence and foster knowledge transfer.
The objective of the agreement is to enhance the opportunity for The Mercurys under SIALME and for IFSA to collaborate and introduce initiatives that will support the industry.
IFSA president, Jane Bernier-Tran, commented: “We are eager to partner with the Mercury Awards, as one of IFSA’s primary initiatives has been to further grow our reach to the Middle East region.
“Looking to the future, we plan to see a series of initiatives resulting from the alliance as we strive to support the airlines and hospitality suppliers who are dedicated to a better passenger experience.”
Joanne Cook, managing director of SIAL Middle East, said: “2017 will mark 36 years for the Mercurys awards and will celebrate and accolade the best innovators within the travel catering industry.
“In IFSA, we have found just the right partner as this will help bring increased recognition for the Mercurys.”
The agreement will be formally announced this month at IFSA’s Annual Conference and a further announcement will be made at the Mercury Awards in December.
The International Flight Services Association [IFSA], headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, was founded in 1966 and serves the interests of airline and railway personnel, inflight and rail caterers and suppliers.
SIAL Middle East is part of SIAL Network, a worldwide network of B2B food exhibitions. The Mercury Awards was founded in 1982.
The 36th edition of the Mercurys will be held alongside SIAL Middle East in December 2017, celebrating the world’s top airline catering executives and companies.
