Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai is introducing a new herb and vegetable garden initiative to increase the corporate social responsibility within the company.An 18.5 sqm garden with its own irrigation system was planted just behind the main building of the hotel, where various vegetables and herbs such as mint, thyme, rosemary, dill, parsley, eggplant, cauliflower, basil, spinach, pumpkin, tomato and coriander leaves will be cultivated for the consumption of the hotel.
This project was initiated by the hotel’s CSR committee and continuously supported by various departments of the hotel including kitchen, sales and marketing, engineering and human resources to keep the garden well groomed.
Winfried Helmetag, the executive chef of the hotel, who is devotedly involved in this initiative said: “It is essential to offer your guests the best when it comes to food, which means organic, that is why planting a garden allows us to satisfy the taste of our demanding clients by providing them the superb product. We interact with our guests regularly and explaining what kind of vegetation can be grown in the desert climate in order for them to appreciate the natural flavours of local ingredients and understand how beneficial it is for the local community”.
