Boldly challenging convention around Asian cuisine with simplicity and creativity, the new Pan-Asian restaurant, Matagi has opened in Dubai.
Located within the Emerald Palace Kempinski, on the western crescent of the Palm Jumeirah, this authentic concept is the vision of hospitality company Atelier EPJ and has been envisaged as a venue that pays tribute to simple, well-sourced ingredients whilst challenging common perceptions around Asian food. The result is a place of culinary mastery for avid and sophisticated foodies, bringing innovative Pan-Asian culture to life through mouthwatering creations.
From the show-kitchen to the antique wooden bar counter to the bold flavours presented in the menu, Matagi sets the stage for an immersive food journey that is curious and captivating whilst remaining refined and polished. As with the best Asian philosophies, Matagi has been designed to offer a sense of calm and serenity, which is intrinsic in Asian culture. Guests are welcomed into a warm and comfortable interior, highlighted with the repetitive use of Asian tiles and artifacts, presented in burnished earths and metallics to set the stage for a richly opulent and memorable dining journey.
The kitchen explores the breadth of the Pan-Asian region, drawing inspiration from Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines for an elegant, yet eclectic Asian dining experience. Designed to be shared, meals commence with a variety of sushi and sashimi, salads and small plates, each prepared using local ingredients, ensuring that each contemporary dish retains the essence and ethos of the place of origin. Mains include a number of signature dishes, including noodles and steaks.
