US-founded Japanese restaurant brand Katsuya by Starck has opened its first UAE venue at doors at Jumeirah Al Naseem Hotel at Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah.
The full-service upscale brand combines Japanese and Californian cuisine and has locations in LA, Las Vegas, South Beach, Kuwait and now Dubai, with more venues to open around the world.
The brand’s menu has been designed by chef Katsuya Uechi, while the interiors were created by well-known French designer, Philippe Starck.
Sam Nazarian, founder and CEO of sbe, the hospitality company behind the brand, commented: “We’re proud of Katsuya’s longevity as a brand and our ability to enhance our portfolio on an international scale.
“With the success of the Katsuya openings in Kuwait at Avenues Mall and Arabella, it was a natural decision to continue to grow our footprint in the Middle East. We’re excited to enter Dubai’s influential dining scene.”
The restaurant features four master kitchens: the Sushi Kitchen, the Hot Kitchen, the Robata Grill, and the Liquid Kitchen (bar).
Menu items include crispy rice with spicy tuna, yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno, and miso-marinated black cod or Wagyu filet with foie gras.
Cocktails include the Burning Mandarin, which is part spicy part sweet and the Watermelon Cucumber Mojito.
