Internationally celebrated chef Ritu Dalmia is set to take the Middle East by storm as she prepares to open her inaugural restaurant, Atrangi, in the growing gastronomic hotspot of Dubai. Soon-to-be nestled in the iconic Jumeirah Al Qasr, Atrangi prepares to bring a unique twist on traditional cuisine, channeling the many culinary traditions found across India to present Indian gastronomy in an authentic yet contemporary light.
Known globally for her trailblazing efforts in introducing Italian cuisine to India and Indian cuisine to Italy and Central Europe, Dalmia brings a wealth of culinary knowledge and experience to Atrangi. Notable venues include Cittamani in Milan and Diva in Delhi, India. With a passion for showcasing lesser-known regional dishes, Dalmia promises to delight diners with her fresh and vibrant twist on traditional Indian fare.
“At Atrangi, we want to showcase the diverse and rich culinary traditions and techniques from all over India and the authenticity of each item on our menu. From the far corners of the country to our busy city streets, we want to pay homage to our wonderful traditions. We aim to cater to all tastes and palates and to offer an experience that is truly enjoyable,” states Ritu Dalmia.
The menu at Atrangi takes inspiration from the many mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers who create their home-cooked meals with a dollop of simplicity and a generous sprinkle of love.
Laila Suhail, CEO of Strategic Alliances & Partnerships Sector, Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), commented: “We are happy to have played a role in enabling this very unique project, as it fills a void for an Indian restaurant that offers a wide selection of Indian dishes derived from ancient cooking methods and spices that are creatively flavoured to appeal to a global universal palette. We believe that Chef Ritu Dalmia has truly excelled in filling the gap, as evidenced by the innovative and unconventional menu. We are confident that Atrangi will further reinforce Dubai’s position as a must-visit destination for foodies, providing a range of gastronomical experiences. With extensive experience in creating and designing unique and exclusive menus, food concepts and themes, Chef Ritu also brings amazing value with her Atrangi restaurant, as it will add to Dubai’s diverse offerings for destination weddings and milestone celebrations.”
Spanning over 5,275 square feet, the venue is an inviting space designed to portray Dalmia’s character and personality through creative creations and splashes of colour. Seating up to 96 guests, Atrangi will offer both a vibrant indoor dining experience as well as an expansive outdoor terrace overlooking the magical Jumeriah Al Qasr lagoons. Guests can even hop on the classic abra ride to or from the venue, adding to the playful charm of the restaurant.
Peter Roth, Regional Vice President of Madinat Jumeirah & General Manager of Jumeirah Al Qasr, comments, “We’re thrilled to welcome Atrangi to Jumeirah Al Qasr’s dining portfolio. Its contemporary Indian concept is an ideal addition to our diverse collection of dining experiences at Madinat Jumeirah. A fine-dining Indian restaurant perfectly aligns with our dedication to offering guests exceptional gastronomic choices. We have full confidence that Atrangi will quickly become a cherished part of our guests’ overall experience at our property after it opens in May”
With its commitment to authenticity, creativity and hospitality, Atrangi, is brought to Dubai by Haute Gourmet Co., whose management is invested in many nouvelle restaurant concepts in UAE & India that offer Greek, Indian & Japanese dining experiences.
Created with passion, Atrangi is set to become a must-visit destination for both residents and tourists alike looking for an elevated Indian meal with a home-cooked flair.
