CSO Italy, the Italian fruit and vegetable cooperative, is returning with its delicious European apples and kiwis.
After another year which has been marked by Covid 19, events slowly started to pick up again in the second half of 2021. This is not only a great opportunity to participate in expositions and conferences to showcase the European fruits and vegetables, but also for hosting exclusive events such as workshops during which the selected participants learn about the products but are also directly involved using them in the kitchen.
With the availability of the European apples and kiwis in Dubai, a fruit pie workshop was organised. During the workshop, two different pies have been prepared with the Italian Chef Aira Piva. The participants were food bloggers and influencer in the UAE, specialised in the F&B industry. Chef Aira perfectly knows the specifics of the two fruits. His two recipes enabled their flavours to perfectly flourish and make the pies as delicious as they looked.
The European Eplì apple’s philosophy is to be good, eco-friendly, right and kind. It’s a fresh crisp apple, with the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity, crispness, and juiciness. This tasty fruit is ideal at any time of day – cooked or in its raw form. This variety is naturally resistant to parasites, which significantly reduces treatments for crops; it respects the environment, as the result of painstaking, conscious and clean agricultural methods. This apple also guarantees a fair price as the work of the producers and the interests of the consumers are respected.
Promoting this continuous attention to every aspect of the apple’s life was one of the important reasons why a workshop was chosen to present the product. The pie workshop offered participants the chance to experience a new way of appreciating the European apple, while enjoying exciting moderation and being taught about the product and its characteristics by Chef Aira.
Beyond the delicious apple pie, Chef Aira also taught the participants how to prepare and create pretty kiwi pies. Being known as the “fruit of health”, this second recipes was a perfect addition to the first healthy dessert option. Kiwifruits are very rich in vitamin C. With one fruit it is possible to meet daily requirements, with a slightly higher intake for the yellow-fleshed variety. Vitamin C is an important antioxidant and essential for a good immune system function.
The kiwifruit also has a good content of vitamin E, another valuable antioxidant compound, as well as the large presence of another micronutrient, potassium. A constant consumption of the fruit can help maintain a good Na+/K+ ratio, a ratio that many studies have shown to be decisively important in reducing the risk of hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
The quality and richness in healthy nutrients of kiwifruit is another example of how the products promoted by the European campaign strive to meet high European safety and food quality standards.
