The Lana, Dorchester Collection, is delighted to unveil a limited-edition Marie Antoinette Afternoon Tea in partnership with the iconic shoe designer, Manolo Blahnik.
Nestled within the breathtaking lobby of The Lana, Dorchester Collection’s architectural masterpiece, The Gallery unveils an afternoon tea experience that reimagines the opulence of the French court through a contemporary couture lens – an ode to romance, artistry, and indulgence.
Inspired by Manolo Blahnik’s latest “Marie Antoinette” collection, this exquisite collaboration fuses haute couture with haute pâtisserie. Each delicacy is a testament to refinement, whimsy, and royal decadence – a visual and gastronomic celebration of the artistry that defines both maisons.
Manolo Blahnik’s lifelong fascination with the ill-fated French queen began in childhood, when his mother would read him Stefan Zweig’s ‘Marie Antoinette’ as an unconventional bedtime story. This connection deepened in 2006 when Blahnik designed the shoes for Sofia Coppola’s Academy Award-winning film Marie Antoinette, a creative milestone that cemented her as one of his most enduring muses. Nearly two decades later, Blahnik revisits this iconic inspiration with the brand’s sponsorship of the ‘Marie Antoinette Style’ exhibition at the V&A in London and the release of a limited-edition capsule collection.
To mark this moment, Manolo Blahnik has partnered with The Lana to present a Marie Antoinette Afternoon Tea: a natural extension of the designer’s love for luxury, decadence, and the delicate art of patisserie. At the heart of this collaboration is the artistry of Best Craftsman of France and World Pastry Champion, Chef Angelo Musa, whose creative vision elevates the patisserie to new heights. Guests are then invited to indulge in a thoughtfully curated selection of elegant savouries, warm scones, and jewel‑like pastries, each hand‑selected by Manolo Blahnik and crafted with couture precision. Presented with The Lana’s signature sophistication, this experience is a feast for the senses, and a love letter to beauty in all its forms. MENU HIGHLIGHTS
Drawing inspiration from the opulence of the era, the procession begins with a selection of refined savoury dishes. Guests can enjoy silky Alaskan king crab accompanied by tarragon-citrus aioli and avocado; slow-roasted Wagyu beef layered with mustard cream and caramelised shallots; truffle-infused eggs crowned with seasonal black truffles; and smoked Scottish salmon, finished with lemon-dill mascarpone and a touch of ossetra caviar.
Warm plain and raisin scones are served with Devon clotted cream and signature jams by Angelo Musa. This is followed by a collection of exquisite pastries that evoke a sense of courtly decadence, including a rose-and-raspberry religieuse, a ruby grapefruit-strawberry cheesecake, a glossy blueberry tart, and a satin-smooth Sachertorte.
Guests are presented with a curated selection of fine teas, with the option to enhance the experience by adding a glass of NV Pol Roger Brut Réserve or the alcohol-free Wild Idol.
