Following their recent Michelin Star and #4 ranking on The Middle East and North Africa’s 50 Best Restaurants list, Trèsind Studio brings the UAE back to acclaim on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, debuting at an impressive #57. The list reflects the opinions and experiences of 1080 anonymous voters from 27 regions across the globe and is a key source of dining inspiration for global gastronomes. The voters are comprised of chefs and restauranteurs, food writers and well-travelled gourmets, with 50% of voters being female and 50% male. 2022 marks the first appearance by a UAE restaurant in many years, with 2016 being the last time a restaurant from the Emirates made the cut. The 2022 list features two restaurants from the UAE, with Studio being the highest ranked (Orfali Bros. also features, ranked #87). The 51-100 list was released ahead of the upcoming London-based top 50 announcement event, scheduled for 18th July.
Says The World’s 50 Best Restaurants of Trèsind Studio, “Chef Himanshu Saini presents some of the best examples of authentic Indian fine dining that you’ll find outside of the subcontinent. Watch out for the theatrical ghee roasted crab, burnt cinnamon and curry leaf tempura, and the Tandoori chicken dumpling in curry broth. Dining here should be treated as a marathon not a sprint because the tasting menu may feature as many as 16 dishes.”
The highly prized ranking is the latest in a string of achievements for Trèsind Studio, having recently been judged Restaurant of the Year by FACT and What’sOn magazines, two toques by Gault & Millau and one star in the inaugural Michelin Guide Dubai.
Says Chef Himanshu Saini of the ranking, “I have looked up to The World’s 50 Best list for many, many years, and to enter the extended list at no. 57 really is a dream come true. Alongside the Michelin star we recently received, this year has been huge for the restaurant, for myself, and for the team. We have moved to a new location, showcased our cuisine overseas, welcomed chefs from some incredible restaurants, and seen the arrival of many new awards in the region. It’s an intense time in the local food scene in Dubai, we are all working very hard, but these new lists and awards are really pushing us to deliver the best we possibly can for our guests. It’s a great thing for Dubai and the UAE.”
