Abu Dhabi experienced occupancy growth in February but lower rates due to difficult-to-match comparisons from 2017.
Based on daily data compiled by industry analysts STR, from February, Abu Dhabi reported the following in year-over-year comparisons:
- Supply: flat
- Demand: +5.1%
- Occupancy: +5.1% to 81.0%
- Average daily rate (ADR): -23.3% to AED431.34
- Revenue per available room (RevPAR): -19.4% to AED349.20
A spokesperson for STR said: “The absolute occupancy level would be the highest for a February in Abu Dhabi since 2009. The decline in ADR came as a result of an off year for the biennial International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX), which will be held once again in 2019.”
