Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA) has launched version 4.0 of its mobile app, with upgraded features including access to bus and taxi services.
Version 4.0 of the app, which allows access to the same content at the Authority’s destination portal, VisitAbuDhabi.ae, is available for iPhone, Android & Windows Phone.
TCA acting executive director of marketing and communications, Mouza Al Shamsi commented: “We’ve listened carefully to all your feedback and our app has been completely redesigned from top to bottom following the latest user experience trends to make the whole experience even more immersive and easy to use.”
“All of the key features that you’re familiar with from our previous versions are still present but now they’re even faster, smarter and bursting with functionality.”
The app is now integrated with the Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars, which allows users to book a taxi directly using the app.
Integration with the Department of Transport allows users to access geo-located bus data, allowing them to choose the best routes.
The app has also been integrated with TripAdvisor, to allow users easy access for posting and reading reviews.
“The app boasts an elegant new design following the latest user experience trends and new user-friendly hotel and restaurant filters, where you can find exactly what you need at the click of a button, so discovering everything you need to know about the emirate of Abu Dhabi has never looked so good!” added Al Shamsi.
The new features add to existing services offered by the app, which includes ‘Near Me’ functionality, showing users attractions within easy reach, and an ‘Augmented Reality’ feature, allowing the closest points of interest to be identified via a smartphone camera.
In addition, the app contains a map and full listings of hotels, restaurants and spas with filters to find what’s best for the user. It also includes an online booking feature for hotels, flights and car rental.
Content and services are available in nine languages: Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and Chinese.
