A key theme at the second edition of Hotel News ME’s Executive Housekeepers Conference will centre on sustainable housekeeping practices.
Taking place on November 21, 2016 at The Conrad Hotel Dubai. The Conference is due to bring together over 100 housekeeping and hospitality professionals from across the UAE and wider Middle East to discuss ever changing housekeeping practices, evolving technologies and cost effective waste management solutions.
Marie-Helene Westholm-Knebel, Senior Technical Officer at Emirates Green Building Council will present new training opportunities which will help properties start their journey toward enhancing and improving their sustainability standards by making their staff active players and empowered champions.
Commenting on her participation at the Executive Housekeepers Conference, Westholm-Knebel said: “The Conference is an opportunity for EmiratesGBC to further engage with hospitality industry stakeholders, and to present our insights on how to make the sector more sustainable. Through our participation, we aim to add value to the hospitality sector by sharing our insights on industry best practice and offering capacity building solutions.”
Prior to joining Emirates Green Building Council, Westholm-Knebel worked for the United Nations in Denmark in the fields of sustainability, communications and administration. During these years she specialised in GHG inventory, waste management, internal strategy for emissions reduction and outreach on green buildings. She finally moved to the UAE in 2012 and has been working as Senior Technical Officer of EmiratesGBC since July 2013. She coordinates the Hospitality and Green Key Programs as well as the EmiratesGBC/MENA Green Building Annual Awards. She is also part of the USGBC and MENA Network working groups.
