Arrows and Sparrows, a new café concept from the founders of JLT’s Friends Avenue café will open in Dubai next month.
To be located in Emaar Business Park in The Greens, the venue is set to fill a gap in the market for a contemporary, casual café in the area.
Co-owners and founders Davron Hamidov and Zee Alikhonov will open the concept without their third partner from Friends Avenue Café.
Commenting on the new venue, Alikhonov said: “Initially, our vision was to create a group of cafes and restaurants with different concepts, each having their own personality.
“Thus, our next project is not another branch of Friends’ Avenue, but a new and exciting casual dining café and restaurant located in The Greens, where we feel there’s a gap for a cool, contemporary, but comfortable café serving excellent food and coffee”.
Arrows and Sparrows will feature cool, quirky interiors with turquoise and rose gold hues.
Hamidov and Alikhonov first moved to Dubai in February 2015 to open Friends Avenue after graduating from the University of Vaasa with a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration.
Commenting on their first Dubai venture, Hamidov said: “In the beginning, it was quite terrifying for us to take the risk of opening a new café on our own – three young guys, with no previous background in entrepreneurship, in a completely new market. However, our passion for food and coffee was so strong that we knew we had to do it.”
Friends Avenue serves a blend of Australian, English and European dishes, including an extensive breakfast menu and organic coffee.
Some of the items on the menu include ‘Magic in the Jar’ granola, ‘Back to Hawaii’ French toast and the “I Need Detox” salad.
Similar to Friends Avenue, the menu at Arrows and Sparrows will be centered around casual dining with an expanded main course and breakfast section.
