On Sunday, May 5th, Avli by tashas invites guests to experience the heart and soul of Athenians at a specially curated Greek Easter Lunch. In collaboration with renowned Nomad Chef Andreas Lagos, Avli presents an immersive experience curated by Head Chef Vlassia Anagnostou with pricing starting at AED 400 per person. From traditional mezedes to decadent desserts, every dish celebrates the authentic flavours of Greece, meticulously crafted by Chef Anangnostou and Chef Lagos.
The experience is a haven for plant-based enthusiasts, featuring an extensive selection of seafood, fresh Greek cheeses, various freshly baked pita, and vegetarian dishes across the buffet. The menu caters to diverse dietary preferences with dishes such as Rizogalo (a light and creamy rice pudding made with whole milk, cinnamon, and lemon and orange zest), Eggplant Bougatsa (eggplant filling between layers of phyllo pastry), Ladenia (a Greek flatbread from the island of Kimolos topped with tomatoes, onions, oregano, and olive oil), Red Pepper & Walnut meze, and Artichokes Confit, Hortopita (savoury pie with various greens mixed with herbs and a bit of feta tucked in layers of phyllo dough), Gemista (Greek meaning ‘filled with stuffed tomatoes and/or other vegetables that are baked, until soft, topped with feta cheese).
The generous bounty of sweets includes six different types of freshly baked cookies, all made from scratch. These include Koulourakia (Traditional Easter Greek cookies) which are prepared during Greek Easter festivities. These Easter staples are flavoured with orange zest and topped with sesame seeds. The generous spread will also include many other comforting classic savoury and sweet Orthodox Easter dishes.
A special highlight at the Easter Lunch is the Tsoureki (traditional Greek Easter bread made with flour, milk, butter, eggs, and sugar and commonly seasoned with orange zest, mastic resin, or mahlab) which promises to be a crowd favourite. Other decadent desserts on the buffet include Chocolate with Cherries, Hazelnut with Halva, and Rizogalo (a light and creamy rice pudding made with whole milk, cinnamon, and lemon and orange zest).
