Jones the Grocer, the food emporium, has unveiled a new breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu with an all-star cast across all its stores, in addition to a drinks menu makeover.
On the launch of this new menu, director of operations, Peter Green, says: “This development has been a labour of love for 12 months, testing our mettle with the global lockdown and a time of uncertainty. But the outcome is a firm and flavourful nod to the melting pot spirit of Australia. Frankly speaking, we’ve cooked up some really epic food and drink with over 25 new dishes and as many drinks and crafted cocktails.”
Of course, breakfast at Jones the Grocer serves up humble scrambled eggs, a classic benny and all the post-workout favourites. But there’s nothing quite as punchy as the Turkish-style Cilbir eggs with sweet paprika butter, whipped spicy herbed yoghurt, pesto and feta on a house baked flatbread.
Tank into an Egg in the Hole, a cheesy twist on the traditional breakfast bagel with bacon. Because the folks at Jones the Grocer listen to their customers, the Bombay Chilli is back! This ode to a typically ‘Mumbaiker’ chilli cheese toast has had a sizzling makeover in its repeat appearance. Glorious Granola: a toasty house made warm maple granola with caramelised peaches and coconut yogurt is certain to add a crispy crunch to a perfect morning.
New main dishes are easily acquainted with, they’re honest and faithful to Jones the Grocer’s, now 25year old motto, of Gourmet Food for Everyday Living. They include a selection of sharing boards such as the Big Easy, which combines salsa verde drizzled on a grilled Aussie striploin, crispy chicken sliders, chorizo croquettes, nori dusted kettle chips and marinated feta and olives.
The Togarashi Chicken Toastie with aged cheddar and wasabi mayo is also back; the Jones team heeding to this repeatedly requested superhit from their 2020 toastie menu.
There are two welcome vegan entrants with a Woollahra and Beyond burger featuring a Beyond Meat® vegan patty, vegan cheese, topped with balsamic onions, roasted portobello, onion rings, boston lettuce in a house baked bun alongside spiced sweet potato wedges and a home-made tomato sauce.
Well-known for its inhouse artisan patisserie and bakery with favourites such as its nationally famous carrot cake, the Jones the Grocer pastry team have been beavering away on their pastry and baked desserts. The decadent Basque Burnt Cheesecake (pictured left) is rich and caramelly with a lingering after-note of creamy vanilla and toffee.
Working closely with the chocolatier, Valrhona, the Jones team have also added a stunning Passion Fruit Eclair and a Pistachio Éclair to their Valrhona Chocolate Eclair.
