The region’s first Festival of Cake transformed Al Wasl Plaza into a playground of creativity last month, turning the 110,000 sqft venue into a wonderland of cakes and confectionery.
Over five days, visitors experienced a true sugar-rush of activity with more than 100 live shows, 30 dessert brands, 25 chefs and the UAE’s first official CAKE PICNIC.
The Bake-Off Winners Revealed

One of the festival’s most anticipated moments was the Festival of Cake Bake-Off, powered by Bosch, which brought together bakers of every skill level from across the globe.
Judged by an international panel that included celebrity pastry stars Anna Olson, Jermaine Cunningham and Claire Clark MBE, the professional competition delivered extraordinary craftsmanship across three categories, with the winners as follows.
Novelty Category Winner – Charisse Llamis – “Dubai Cake Odyssey”

“My masterpiece, Dubai Odyssey, celebrates the city’s heritage, vision, and endless possibilities. Sharing my passion and winning first place in the Novelty Cakes category in my very first competition is a milestone, a reminder of how far dedication and perseverance can take you.”
Sculptured Category Winner – Michael Adrian M. Segundo (Jaysiedel) – “The Hearts Unveiled Vision”

“Baking is more than just creating cakes, it is about crafting edible passion and real life stories”
Wedding Category Winner – Chathuri Dona – “Love Glows Even in Winter”

“Being part of the Festival of Cake Bake-Off was an unforgettable experience. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my creativity and passion for cake artistry.”
Immersive Zones and Global Chefs Took the Stage

The event’s programme brought together more than 25 master chefs from around the world. Alongside the celebrity judges, the lineup included Catherine Zhang, Sarah Alsughayer, Markus Bohr, Sahar Parham Al Awadhi and Nicolas Lambert. Their demonstrations ranged from chocolate sculpting to modern pâtisserie, offering festival-goers rare access to world-class expertise.
Headline talent added further flair. Rich Myers, founder of the UK dessert sensation Get Baked, built his famous 24-layer chocolate cake Bertha live on stage each day, while Brooke Bellamy of Australia’s Brooki Bakehouse travelled to Dubai for the first time to share her business journey and meet fans.
Across multiple zones, visitors sampled signature creations from brands including Magnolia Bakery, Bake My Day, April’s Bakery, Cake Bloom, Tema’s Cakes. Pavlova Café, Miss Matcha, Cake Social, Dreamy Delights by Sidra, Cakes by Zoya and more. Many completed their journey with the festival’s popular Cake Passport, offering curated bite-sized tastings across the site.
