Following their ranking of #87 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants extended list, Orfali Bros. puts Syrian flavours on the culinary radar yet again, being voted #1 on the 2023 MENA’s 50 Best List.
Says Chef Mohamad Orfali of the ranking, “Since opening our restaurant nearly two years ago, we have lived and breathed ‘Orfali Bros’. It’s a true labour of love for us all. We are so happy to have received this honour – but it is not about us, it is a win for our team, our customers, for Dubai. We’re always surprised when we receive these wonderful accolades and we feel so grateful to have a community that appreciates what we do. It means a lot that people take time out of their lives to visit us and share stories, flavours and memories.”
“It has always been our dream to champion gastronomy in the Middle East, and with this award, we also feel the responsibility to help inspire young talent in this region, of which there is so much, to follow their dreams, to open homegrown concepts. Dubai is a very special place, it has given us the opportunity to create something that’s not been seen before, without losing the essence and soul of our heritage, our culture.
We look forward to continuing to welcome our dining community, as well as new faces and friends, to our dining room this year.”
The Middle East and North Africa’s 50 Best Restaurants list was announced on the 30th of January in Abu Dhabi, reflecting the opinions and experiences of 250 anonymous voters from 19 countries in the region. A key source of dining inspiration for global gastronomes, the list is decided by a voting panel comprised of chefs and restaurateurs, food writers and well-travelled gourmets. 2023 celebrates the second edition of the list, with 15 restaurants in Dubai making the cut this year.
Says 50 Best Restaurants of Orfali Bros., “Orfali Bros Bistro is a distinctive neighbourhood eatery that has captured the imagination of Dubai’s multi-cultural residents as well as food-loving visitors from across the globe with its combination of tradition and technique, and its simultaneous nods to nostalgia and progression.”
“Mouth-watering and delightfully presented pastries and desserts are created on the top floor by Wassim and Omar, while the savoury dishes are prepared down below where Mohammed seemingly teleports from the pass to each table to explain how each dish came to be.”
The highly prized ranking is the latest in a string of achievements for Orfali Bros. Bistro, having recently been named as one of Conde Nast Traveller’s Best New Restaurants in the World 2022, #87 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 51-100 List and awarded a Bib Gourmand in the inaugural Michelin Guide Dubai.
