Continuing its commitment to environmental sustainability and deforestation awareness, Amazónico, with its rich flora and fauna-inspired interiors and diverse culinary offerings inspired by the Amazon, joins forces with its outposts in Dubai, London and Madrid to celebrate World Rainforest Day 2023. The global community is coming together as it pledges to donate one tree for every person who dines in the restaurant on 22nd June 2023.
The restaurant is proud to join its long-time charity partner, One Tree Planted, in its impressive reforestation projects and initiatives in the Amazon Rainforest. Strengthening its effort for the worldly cause, Amazónico changed the name of their signature cocktail in 2021 from Welcome to the Jungle to Save the Jungle, a twist on a Caipirinha with cachaca, tamarillo, lime, and anise, to encourage guests to make more environmentally conscious choices. By teaming up with One Tree Planted, Amazónico recognised the urgent need to take action against deforestation and aim to contribute to sustainability efforts from a ground level to make a positive impact on the planet.
The Amazon rainforest, often referred to as the “Lungs of the Earth,” covers approximately 6.7 million square kilometres and represents over half of the planet’s remaining tropical rainforest. As it celebrates World Rainforest Day, the beloved restaurant, along with its global locations in London and Madrid, will give back and pledge to donate a tree for every diner who visits the restaurant, thereby striving to offset their carbon footprint wherever possible and actively participating in reforestation initiatives. Guests can explore a range of exotic Latin American dishes and cocktails, such as the aptly named Save the Jungle, Amazónico’s take on a Caipirinha with flavours of tamarillo, lime and anise which is also available in a “No ABV” mocktail version, all while supporting reforestation efforts in the largest rainforest in the world.
Since its fruitful partnership launched in 2020, close to 20,000 cocktails have been sold in Amazónico Madrid, London and Dubai resulting in over 22,000 trees being planted and donated to One Tree Planted’s reforestation in San Martin, Peru. Through this impactful project, Amazónico is not only planting trees but also fostering a sense of environmental responsibility by recognising the crucial role of indigenous communities as stewards of the rainforest and promoting sustainable livelihoods that align with their cultural values and traditions.
