Saahil Mehta, MD of ResNet World shared his global distribution system (GDS) tips for hoteliers at the GM Leaders Conference, 2016.
With most corporate online booking tools powered by GDS and many consumer online agencies using the system, Mehta said: “GDS production continues to grow year on year by as much as 5% to 10% worldwide. I can also attest from the various trade shows that I attend that travel agents are an ever-growing, influential force in the travel industry. The GDS as a viable revenue channel is not going away any time soon”
His top five tips for delegates to improve their GDS are:
- Ensure longitude/ latitude setting and address are 100% correct
- Provide thorough property, room and rate descriptions
- Review your GDS load annually
- List your property specific GDS codes on your website
- Rate parity applies to GDS channel as well
