Food enthusiasts and culinary explorers, get ready to embark on a sensational gastronomic journey with RARE, the UAE’s first gourmet food truck offering Japanese and Latin American-inspired cuisine. The latest addition to Dubai’s vibrant food scene, RARE promises an exceptional and unforgettable dining experience unlike any other.
The homegrown concept was born out of the shared passion for food among three Emirati friends with the dream to open a food truck serving high-quality food in an informal setting. The trio teamed up with accomplished Colombian Chef Brando Moros, known for his specialty in wood-fire grilling. Chef Moros has passionately crafted a Japanese-influenced menu with a touch of South American flair. Dishes combine elegance and precision with bold flavours, presented with impeccable attention to detail.
The menu showcases an array of premium quality ingredients carefully sourced from the best suppliers from around the world, Bluefin Akami Tuna from Japan, full-blood wagyu sourced from Mayura Station in Australia and Saroma in Japan.
Guests can look forward to sampling exquisite signature dishes A5 Wagyu Nakkuru Dhs128 (MBS 12+ Japanese wagyu knuckle, Tsukamoto, crispy shitake, mushroom powder, leeks ash), and Chocolate Wagyu Fillet Dhs158 (MBS 9+ Mayura Station chocolate fed wagyu, pickled bok choi & onions, togarashi, garlic sauce). The latter is a stand-out luxurious delicacy, the cows are fed a distinctive combination of chocolate and cream-flavoured gummy bears during the last four months of their lives, imparting a truly distinctive flavour profile to the meat.
Other notable highlights include the traditional Japanese kushiyaki options, Wagyu Beef Tsukune Dhs36 (wagyu beef, tare sauce, shisho, scallions, chili), Tsukune Yakitori Dhs26 (minced chicken, sesame, shisho, scallions), Seared Japanese Tuna Akami Buddha Bowl Dhs85 (quinoa, avocado, pickled onion, asparagus, teriyaki shitakes, togarashi, sesame dressing), Wagyu Maki Dhs56 (Japanese A5 MBS 12 wagyu, truffle, pepperoni, cheddar, tartar sauce), Veggie Cubano Dhs40 (grilled tofu, okonomiyaki, Japanese mayo, pickled veg), and Crème Brûlée Crepe Cone Dhs30.
Located under Al Wasl Bridge and opposite Al Safa Park, the visually striking food truck cannot be missed. The exterior is crafted from zine stone, carefully selected to symbolize the essence of charcoal. The design incorporates an inner layer with open cracks, reminiscent of the glowing embers and flames of a lit charcoal fire. Inside lies the custom-built robata grill, serving as the heart of the truck’s offerings.
Co-founder, Mohammed Al Qasimi said, “Our objective was to disrupt the conventional norms of upscale dining, providing individuals who crave exceptional gourmet meals with an exquisite dining experience without the constraints of dress codes and formalities typically associated with high-end establishments. By bringing an elevated dining experience to Dubai’s thriving food scene, we have created a truly rare and distinct epicurean encounter in a one-of-a-kind location.”
“I’ve always been deeply frustrated by the lack of options for premium food on the go. Our idea was to take the techniques we employ as Michelin-trained chefs and simplify them. As a team, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of culinary artistry, delivering a gourmet experience that defies expectations and redefines the street food scene. The menu showcases an innovative array of dishes that are exceptionally rare, setting us apart from any other food truck in the region”, commented Executive Chef Brando Moros.
This summer guests can savour RARE’s gastronomic delights from the comfort of their cars. As the winter season arrives, the team will reveal the expansion of the outdoor seating area, allowing guests to indulge in the pleasure of al fresco dining. The team also plans to introduce a series of exciting community events, promising to enhance the overall experience and create lasting memories for all who partake in this rare culinary adventure.
