Robert Jones, managing director, Coffee Planet has been with the company for nine years and spearheaded operations as MD for the past five years. Here Jones, discusses Coffee Planet’s top selling products and its differentiating qualities.
Can you share some details about the company history?
Coffee Planet was born in Arabia and our goal is to help people experience the finest global Arabica coffee. Our quality coffee has been enjoyed by foodservice, retail and business customers across the Middle East and beyond since 2005.
Producing quality coffee is our number one priority, which is why we have established and maintained excellent relationships with the best coffee producers from around the world. We roast green beans in our UAE roastery creating our own whole bean, ground and capsule coffee.
Now in our eleventh year since inception, we have grown to become the biggest roaster in the UAE, allowing us to cater to a combination of foodservice, office, retail and vending coffee requirements, as well as serve over 200 convenient store locations throughout the UAE.
What factors differentiate the company from other suppliers in the same field?
There are a number of coffee companies in the UAE and the wider region, but we remain unique in our approach to providing full coffee solutions. From premium quality coffee available on-the-go, to special blends and unique recipes for offices and the foodservice industry, as well as an extensive retail range for consumers at home, we truly believe we’re fulfilling a niche in the market, which sets us apart from other suppliers in the field.
Can you name your top-seller and some of its key features?
Consumers’ tastes are becoming more sophisticated, with an increased desire to try new taste and blend profiles, meaning our top-seller can alter at any time. As a dynamic and agile coffee business, we can quickly adapt to these trends to enable our customers to get the best blends they require. Currently, one of our popular blends in our professional series range is Roast No. 70, which is a darker roast with a taste of nuts, red berries and citrus.
Which regions across the Middle East do you supply to, and where are your key source markets for business?
As we are headquartered in the UAE, this location will naturally remain the hub of our operations and therefore we supply to most regions in the Middle East. However, we are continuing to further develop our GCC and wider Asia operations as a global company. We currently supply to our partners in Oman, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Malaysia.
What new products and announcements should we know about?
Earlier this year, we launched our brand new and improved range of Nespresso-compatible coffee capsules, each filled with a unique blend of freshly roasted, 100% Arabica coffee. The new range is available in five distinct taste profiles and roast strengths – including a UTZ-certified organic espresso capsule. Additionally, we will continue to introduce new single origin coffees to our range throughout the year.
