Dukes Dubai on Palm Jumeirah, which is set to open later this month, has launched its signature dining outlet, Great British Restaurant.
The venue serves British food including cod and chips, Lancashire Hot Pot, Colchester oysters and Dover sole, and for dessert, jam roly poly and walnut whip are on offer.
Abdulla Bin Sulayem, CEO, Seven Tides, owner of Dukes Dubai, said: “GBR is a blend of casual style cuisine and British tradition. It is stylish yet understated with a brasserie feel and I am convinced that it will stand out in Dubai’s highly competitive dining scene.”
Great British Restaurant is constructed around the bar, which stands in the centre of the restaurant, and has a double height roof with floor-to-ceiling windows offering resort views.
The 390-pax venue has 200 seats inside and 190 on the terrace and features two live cooking stations and a dedicated fine bubbles and oyster bar.
Headed by executive Chef, Martin Cahill, GBR uses produce from a select number of heritage brands including Paxton & Whitfield Cheese, which was provided to Queen Victoria under Royal Warrant from 1850.
Chef Cahill previously worked for The Savoy and Dorchester Hotel in the UK, before taking up his first international role in Toronto, Canada.
This was followed by senior positions with Hyatt Hotels in Australia, Bermuda, Canada, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and Mandarin Oriental Taipei where he headed a team of 171 chefs across eight outlets.
Debrah Dhugga, managing director, Dukes Dubai, said: “The British are well known for their love of good, hearty food.
“Chef Martin will be putting his stamp on popular dishes like battered cod and chips while introducing a number of elegant menu items such as Colchester oysters and hock and foie gras terrine served with Piccalilli.
“The dishes will make the most of seasonal ingredients available in Britain, with the menu being refreshed every four months.”
In addition to GBR, Cahill will oversee five other dining and lounge venues and will cater for the meeting and events space at Dukes Dubai.
Centrally located on the trunk of Palm Jumeirah, Dukes Dubai features 279 guestrooms and 227 hotel apartments.
