Almayass, a Lebanese-Armenian restaurant, has opened in Sofitel Dubai Downtown.
First founded in Beirut in 1996 by an Armenian family, Almayass has branches in Kuwait, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Abu Dhabi, New York and now Dubai.
The restaurant’s founder, Shant Alexandrian, commented: “The success of Almayass internationally and of course in nearby Abu Dhabi, has highlighted the obvious need for a branch here in Dubai, where there has been great interest and demand for a presence.
“A restaurant such as this has enormous potential to fill a very obvious gap in the Dubai market. We know there is a niche for authentic Lebanese-Armenian cuisine and clients who have visited our branches abroad have been clamouring for their own spot, here in the city.”
The restaurant offers hot and cold mezze, oven-baked mantee, a four-cheese soubereg, beef kebabs with sour cherry sauce and basterma with quail’s eggs served on toast. It is fully licensed and seats 170.
