Shangri-La Hotel Doha has appointed Nana Supriatna as head pastry chef.
Supriatna, from Indonesia, had previously served as executive pastry chef at Grosvenor House Dubai since 2005.
Alex Willats, general manager of Shangri-La Hotel Doha said: “To have someone with such experience from one of the best hotels in Dubai join the team is incredibly exciting.
“Chef Nana Supriatna is sure to revitalise the Shangri-La dining experience with his innovative delicious ideas and devotion to pastry as an art.”
Supriatna studied hotel management at the Indonesian Tourism Academy, Jakarta from 1986-1990 and undertook an apprenticeship programme at InterContinental Hotel, Jakarta from 1990-1991.
Later he did a scholarship at the National Hotel Insititute, Badung, Indonesia, where he majored in food commodities.
Chef Supriatna specialises in Arabic and Asian sweets, pastry delicatessen, pastry gourmet, chocolate art and marzipan art.
Commenting on his new role, he said: “I am incredibly fortunate and delighted to be able to share my craft and expertise with Shangri-La Hotel Doha.
“I look forward to working with my new team to create a deliciously inspiring dining experience, bringing exciting new methods, dishes and flavours to the cuisine.”
Shangri-La Hotel Doha is owned by Al Rayan Tourism Investment Company (ARTIC), the international hospitality subsidiary of Al Faisal Holding Company, headed by His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani.
