Chef Ta Van Ninh has been appointed as the new chef de cuisine for Hoi An at Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi.
No stranger to the Shangri-La family, Chef Ta Van Ninh moved to Abu Dhabi from Mauritius where he held the role of Specialty Asian Chef at Kushi Restaurant in Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa in Mauritius.
Starting his culinary journey as a Commis for an Italian restaurant in Vietnam, Chef Ta Van climbed up the career ladder in the Middle East where he first held the role of chef de partie for a luxury hotel in Dubai to eventually becoming the Sous Chef.
“I’m honoured to be given the reins of the kitchen at such a popular restaurant in Abu Dhabi. It’s great to be given the chance to showcase the flavours of my homeland with a touch of modern cooking,” Chef Ta Van said.
Commenting on the new appointments, Ulf Bremer, general manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, said: “We are proud of the authenticity of the Vietnamese dishes served at Hoi An.
“Having Chef Ta Van at the helm of the Hoi An kitchen guarantees that our guests can continue to explore diverse flavours through his signature dishes,” he added.
