Shopping mall, retail and leisure developer, Majid Al Futtaim, has announced a redevelopment project for City Centre Ajman, which will include the opening of 10 new F&B outlets.
The expansion of the mall, which first opened in 1998, will include the introduction of several new food and beverage brands to the emirate.
Costing AED 600 million, the project will see the facility double in size from 29,000m2 to 52,000m.2
Kim McInnes, chief executive officer – shopping malls at Majid Al Futtaim – Properties commented: “The UAE’s Northern Emirates are a key growth area for Majid Al Futtaim, enabling us to deliver an entirely new set of retail, dining, leisure, and entertainment experiences to both residents and overseas visitors.
“As Ajman’s population increases and a growing number of tourists visit this part of the country, the redevelopment of City Centre Ajman will deliver the highest standard of design and diversity of choice while contributing significantly to the emirate’s economic and employment landscapes.”
The expanded mall will feature 150 new retail outlets as well as an expanded VOX Cinemas with 4DX screens and children’s theatres.
Anticipated to conclude in the third quarter of 2017 the expansion will be followed by an additional refurbishment of the existing mall.
The project forms part of Majid Al Futtaim’s recent commitment to invest a further AED 30 billion in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by the end of 2026.
Other projects include the Al Zahia master-planned community and mall in Sharjah, and the redevelopment of City Centre Sharjah.
According to Majid Al Futtaim, the expansion will be contemporary, spacious, and able to accommodate the growth in residents and tourists anticipated by the government’s 2021 vision.
The mall’s public facilities will be enhanced with additional prayer rooms and restrooms incorporating water-saving fittings, and LED lights installed throughout.
