The Emirates Culinary Guild would like to announce the successful participation of the United Arab Emirates Culinary team’s participation in Luxembourg from 26th till 30th November 2022 at the EXPOGAST 2022 Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup. This competition is one of the most prestigious in the world to compete in and is by invitation only for the teams.
President of the Guild Uwe Micheel and Director of kitchens for Radisson Blu Dubai Deira Creek said, “We are immensely proud of these young men and women who represented the country against the best in the world and flew the flag high for the United Arab Emirates. They have proven that our adopted home is one of the strongest in the culinary world and is being recognized as an international force in culinary competitions added Micheel.
Guild Chairman Andy Cuthbert General Manager of Jumeirah Creekside Hotel and Madinat Conference and events and Jumeirah Hospitality added, “without the help of a team of senior chefs and helpers who also accompanied the team, and also friends from Germany who came and helped we would not have been as successful as we were, the Guild thanks, , Norbert Girnth, Karl Heinz Ney, Karl Heinz Hasse, Majed Housain Al Sabagh , Rabeh Amar , Mrs. Annette Micheel, Mrs. Jospehine Cuthbert and Ms. Amna Al Dhaheri and the support of Al Dafra TV.
The UAE sent a team of 27 chefs including the support team from across the Emirates to make up the team of pastry chefs and pastry artists from restaurants, hotels in Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi & Royal palaces were part of the team. There were countries competing from all over the globe in Luxembourg, these are the top teams in the world chosen to compete and having the UAE represented was a great honour for the chefs.
The team of artist’s and pastry chefs competed in several artistic categories and also participated in an Ice carving demonstration which was led by chef Jagoda who wowed the crowds every day with the teams masterpieces.

The UAE team were awarded a total of 2 Gold medals with distinction along with 41 other Gold Medals making the gold medal tally 43 in all, 14 Silver Medals and 4 bronze medals and 4 diploma were awarded during the 5 day event. Making a total of 61 medals overall for the country.
