El Cubano, a Cuban food truck concept inspired by the movie ‘Chef’, has taken up residence at The Bay Gate Tower on Al Saada Street, in Dubai’s Business Bay area.
The concept is the brainchild of Food Truck Co., a new food truck group in Dubai. Co. co-founder, Amjad Barakat said: “Food Trucks are growing massively in popularity, and we’ve worked extensively to understand the market and track its current appetite for ethnic foods.
“Cuban food is a rich mix of cultures, flavours and colours, and we have two Latin American chefs within the leadership of our culinary team who passionately want to share it with UAE.”
The menu includes the English-Cuban breakfast, served with omelette, beef bacon, pulled and smoked beef, sliced pickle, shredded halloumi cheese and ciabatta toast.
The ensalada de carne is served with romaine lettuce, sweet corn, halloumi cheese, smoked ground beef, jalapeno, guacamole and tortilla.
The menu also includes Cubano sandwiches such as the signature El Cubano, with eight-hour slow cooked smoked brisket, smoked turkey, Swiss cheese, pickles and homemade mustard.
Las Gamelas ‘The Twins’ features two sliders, smoked and pulled beef brisket with guacamole, jalapeno, halloumi and onion in one, and a smoked Black Angus patty with lettuce, potato and fried egg in the other.
Barakat added: “We believe it has huge potential as a street food that goes far beyond its native roots. El Cubano looks set to be the foodie and family truck of choice for the cosmopolitan mix of Business Bay professionals and residents.”
